Patient Services Peer Support
Patients or caregivers in the transplant process will be matched with a volunteer who is similar to themselves. The volunteer will provide support by:
Qualifications:
- Speaking via telephone to the patient or caregiver
- Sharing his/her personal experience
- Offering an empathetic ear
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old
- Personal experience with marrow or cord blood transplant
- At least one year post-transplant
- Basic computer skills (internet and Microsoft Office)
- Ability to act independently
- Ability to complete and submit summary reports to Be The Match Patient Services contact
- Active listening skills
- Ability to demonstrate empathy
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Completion of volunteer application, interview and orientation/training, including confidentiality training
- Consent to background check
